Ingredients
1 1⁄2 pounds ground beef
1⁄2 cup bottled chunky salsa, drained, Pace®
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons real bacon crumbles, Hormel®
1 tablespoon canned chopped jalapeño chile peppers, Ortega®
1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning, McCormick®
4 slices pepper Jack cheese, Tillamook®
4 onion buns, toasted
Lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, and sliced red onion
Precooked sliced bacon, crisped in microwave, Oscar Mayer®
Purchased guacamole, Calavo®
Directions
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salsa, cilantro, bacon crumbles, chile peppers, and steak seasoning. Mix thoroughly. Form into 4 patties slightly larger than buns. (Cover and chill if not cooking immediately.)
Set up grill for direct cooking over high heat (see page 17). Oil grate when ready to start cooking. Place patties on hot, oiled grill. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side for medium (160 degrees F). Place cheese slices on burgers. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes more or until cheese is melted. Serve hot on buns with lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, bacon, and guacamole.
