CLEANTIQUE:

Now it's safe to clean antique fabrics!

Pre-test colorfastness of item being laundered. Saturate a cotton swab with diluted CLEANTIQUE and test each color, including trim and ribbons, by touching swab to an inconspicuous area such as an inner seam. If color comes away on swab, do not attempt to wash; color may bleed. Some ribbons and trims can be successfully removed before washing.

1.   General Soil: Dilute 1 part CLEANTIQUE to 3 parts water in container with lid. Solution should cover item being cleaned. Soak 20 minutes and agitate, if necessary, by gently shaking container. Very fragile fabrics should not be agitated and handled very little as weight of water makes fabric easier to damage.

2.   Heavy Soil: Dilute 1 part CLEANTIQUE to 2 parts water. Follow instructions above.

3.   Stains: Pre-treat the stain with full-strength CLEANTIQUE. Let soak for 15 to 30 minutes.

Rinse thoroughly 2 to 3 minutes under running water. If the cleaned items are small doll clothing or socks, etc., use a strainer or colander to prevent items from going down drain.

Do Not Wring. Roll clothing or fabric in thick towel and pat dry; finish drying by leaving on towel. Do not leave in sunlight. As items air-dry, some of the wrinkles can be smoothed with clean hands; be very careful when handling fragile fabric. Also air-drying of some doll clothing can be done over a 'form' consisting of a vase, carafe, jar (no metal lids) or drinking glass.
