Family Graduation Weekend

How the years have flown!
This is Andrew and me on the bow of a boat in Boston with 125 kids celebrating their graduation.
This party was our gift to our daughter Cara, for her graduation from Harvard.
An extraordinary accomplishment!

This weekend is graduation for two of my three daughters, Cara from Harvard and Mariah from Brown..wow…truth be told I always say ‘They didn’t get it from me, I didn’t graduate from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse—-My education came from life and what God has gifted me.
Thank you God!’

Of these gifts, my greatest gift of all have been my three daughters. I became their weekend mom, their Semi-Homemade mom, when the twins were 10 and the youngest just turning 8—Our graduating twins are now 22.

Where did the years go?

Although I have never birthed children myself, I simply can’t image loving any child more than I do these three. The thought that I had a hand in helping to raise such beautiful, kind, intelligent girls is amazing. But what I appreciate the most is that Andrew, my life partner and sweetheart, always included me, making me part of the family and the co-parent of these spectacular young women.

I also appreciate their Mommy/Mom, Kerry, for allowing me to be so involved, for being so unselfish and for always extending invitations to me, treating me as part of the girls’ family and for always supporting my relationship with her gorgeous daughters…….for basically being a wonderful woman.

I send all the moms and dads out there, whether birth, weekend or Semi-Homemade parents, a big huge congratulations if your child is graduating this year.

This is your time too, your accomplishment also.

Enjoy it and even if you don’t have a perfect relationship with everyone involved remember a gift is a gift is a gift, especially when it comes to kids.

Be grateful for the gifts, everyone!

Smile, hug and enjoy——
Even if only for just one weekend
(But hopefully for everyday).

Love your life- it will be short no matter
how long it is. Every day and every person is special.

For me I give an extra heartfelt thank you to Andrew, for everything—
Mostly for my beautiful daughters
And for the gift of getting to be their other Mom.

Cara and Mariah, Congratulations
