Score big with a “Souper Bowl” party. Follow our helpful tips to host a casual, relaxed get-together for the football fans among your friends and family to watch the big game.  Make it a team effort, and ask a few guests to bring pots of soup to share. This is also a great idea for a Sunday neighborhood gathering.

Accent Pieces

Accent your table with football gear, equipment, and party supplies. A mixture of helmets, real and plastic footballs, and decorated napkins add a spirited touch to the table.

Take the field with a 25-inch megaphone turned on its end (, then fill it with a few pom-poms from last season or your local sports equipment store. Prop a football nearby, and you’ve scored a spirited tablescape.

Small dry erase whiteboards do double duty as handy trays your guests can use as they enjoy their food and the game at the same time. When dinner is done, everyone can analyze their favorite football plays.

Wrap your flatware in solid-color cloth napkins, then secure each one with an old-school wristband or sweatband. We found these at a sports equipment store for about 99 cents each.

Food and Drinks

Hearty and delicious food is a must at any Super Bowl party. Try cheddar-beer soup, avocado-tomatillo dip, beef and horseradish wraps, chocolate-peanut butter brownies, and ginger-thyme shandies.
